A large closet, originally designed to be a photographer’s darkroom, could be used as a second bedroom, provide storage, or be returned to a darkroom. Facing east, the studio is bathed in gorgeous dappled morning light, with the windows that face Howell Park’s old oak trees. It also has a large private outdoor space right outside the unit. It's very private, but also feels open and airy at the same time. The communal space features a spacious lawn adorned with mature trees, a community garden (where each member has their own plot), a cozy fire pit, and a secure gated parking area. Additionally, the building offers shared, coin-operated laundry facilities for added convenience. Located near the scenic Wissahickon, Mt. Airy, and East Falls neighborhoods, as well as Germantown Avenue and the Schuylkill River, this location is a serene artist retreat with easy access to both nature and the city. About Greene Street Artists Cooperative (GSAC): GSAC is home to a close-knit community for artists. Becoming a member of the Greene Street Artists Cooperative is more than just finding a place to live, it’s joining a creative community where where artists live and work side by side to make this building and its grounds vibrant and creative. This unique space is perfect for a respectful, community-minded artist who values both privacy and creative freedom. Residents are expected to contribute a few hours of committee work each month.
